One Health in Nigeria
Global Implementation Solutions (GIS) received funding to coordinate One Health meetings for Nigeria.
The One Health concept is a worldwide strategy for expanding interdisciplinary collaborations and communications in all aspects of health care of humans, animals and the environment.
One Health seeks to promote, improve, and defend the health and well-being of all species by enhancing cooperation and collaboration between physicians, veterinarians, other scientific health and environmental professionals and by promoting strengths in leadership and management to achieve these goals.
GIS facilitated the second One Health Strategic Plan for Nigeria in Abuja, March 5 – 9, 2018. The workshop allowed a large group of experts from Nigeria to come together to finalize the Strategic Plan. The planning session included technical leads from Nigeria, as determined by the Nigeria One Health Unit. The plan was submitted to Cooperative Threat Reduction (CTR) at the end of the first quarter of 2018. Prior to the workshop, GIS submitted all CVs and agendas to CTR.
The Nigeria program has been a success. The program has been interactive and energetic, and the group participation is invaluable.
